Big News!

Hey Everyone,

I have some bad/good news.......

Good News:
Scarlet and Looks that Kill both kindled on the 15th, Scarlet had four Reds (sired by Hot Shot) and Looks that Kill had 3 Castors (sired by Red Pepper).

Bad News:
I will be taking a break from the rabbits for a while. My dad recently got a new job that will require him to travel 80% - 100% of the time, so that also means the rest of the family will be traveling as well. My wonderful friend Briana from Northern Breeze Rabbitry will be hanging onto 10-12 of my rabbits, essentially my best breeding/show stock. I will have a lot of Rabbits for sale in the next few weeks/months. I'm not sure if My family and I will be attending Nationals this year. I still intend to be as involved in the rabbits as I possibly can. I will also have Jrs. available from time to time, as Briana has agreed to breed my does now and then to keep them in production. :) I'll try and update my blog still when I get litters and such. I will be completely be selling out of the New Zealands, I've already got two people interested in them, but I'm not sure what they'll be taking exactly (one will be taking the Jr. Does in my current Litter).

Let me know if you're interested in any of my stock (except the Hollands and the Woolys). The Jersey Wooly and Holland Lop Herds will be staying with Briana (4 total). Not sure about the rest. Thinking about selling Hot Shot and Red Pepper, possibly Live Wire.

Another Up-Date

Well....The Holland Lops are not working out too well for Sarah. We've had them since July/August, and we're having a very hard time getting the doe bred, and the one time she did get pregnant she killed the babies. She's decided to sell them and get into Jersey Woolys with me. I'm not sure what colors we will be focusing on, but one of them will defiantly be REW. Next year I plan to be showing in Open, but I'll be encouraging Sarah to continue to show in Youth. Glass kindled 5 yesterday 4 were DOA and the other on didn't make it. She will be re-bred either later this month or in the Spring. I've also got two other Mini Rex and Crush (Red New Zealand) due later this month. Can't wait to have some babies around here. :)

More Updates. :)

I just got five new Reds from a lady I sold two rabbits to, she's moving and can't take all her rabbits with them. They're all fully pedigreed and pretty nice, three are bucks and the other two are does, the does have pinched HQs, but other than that I can't complain. At the moment they're learning to pose right. I'll hopefully be showing them at the next show I attend. All of them are from me or their parents are.

For now I'm only doing Reds, Blacks and Broken of those two varieties to make room for the other breeds. The other colors have been sold to Jennifer from Asinaways Rabbitry.

New Red Bucks

Tomorrow I'll be getting three Red Bucks, all out of my lines, two are my home grown babies and the other is out of two homegrowns. The lady who bought them is moving and can't take them all with her. I'll be looking for homes for two of them, e-mail me if you'd like one. :) The ones for sale will be Jrs.

Tough Decisions

At the moment I'm having a very hard time deciding who to keep and who to sell to cut down for winter. :/ It's hard to decide between my older bucks and does who produce well and the younger babies who are not proven yet. I've got a few bucks in mind to sell, but they're all vital parts of my herd. I'm also thinking about selling two of my colors, so I can have some extra room to work on my Reds and Blacks. Why do these things always have to be so difficult?

Update :)

I'm expecting several litters, they're due the starting the 19th to the end of the month. It will be nice to have some babies in the barn again! Here's what's bred:

Mini Rex
G&D's Tinkerbell
Alexandria
Bella's Dancing on Glass
Bella's Live Wire
Bella's Looks that Kill

Holland Lop
MAW's Charlotte

New Zealand Reds
Emily's Orange Crush

Progress on the Barn:
My family and I have been working the past 2 days "insulating" the barn. We've got most of it done. Tomorrow we'll be going to get the door and hopefully 2 windows, so we can finish it. It looks so nice already, I can't wait till it's done. It will be so much different than what I'm used to.

Barn Re-Do

The bunny barn is getting "insulated" today!! I'm soooo excited! This means I can breed year round and I don't have to deal with frozen pans and water bowls. :) Since the foam insulation is so expensive I'm using OSB to cover the walls, this will hopefully make an air tight seal and keep the cold out. Then it will be covered with plastic so the bunny pee doesn't mess up the OSB. I'll post pictures when it's all done. :)

Woolys are back!!! And other news.

My first Blogtober post....yeah I'm late but better late than never. :) Thanks Kristina from Fuzzy Patch Rabbitry for the graphic!! :D

We've had tons of stuff going on in the rabbitry and I haven't had time to post the latest news......

One of my Wooly buddies all ready know this but........The Jersey Woolys are back at Bella's Rabbitry!!! :D I was out playing with my two pet woolys (GC Rose Meadow's Slinky and Bella's Killer) the other day and I realized how much I missed having them....then I got to thinking how cute the babies were and I was sold. lol At the moment I've only got my two bucks, but hopefully after I insulate the barn I'll have some extra cash to get a lady wooly. :)

My Sister(Sarah) and Dad have also recently gotten into rabbits so Bella's Rabbitry is now a family project!

Sarah is Breeding and Showing Holland Lops. I got her an awesome little buck from Tiger Country Holland Lops, who is out of a THF Saynora buck. I also got her a doe out of MAW's and Dowling's lines. She is focusing on Brokens, Torts and Oranges.

My dad and I are doing New Zealands as a Meat project. We are focusing on the Red, Black and Broken varieties of the New Zealand. I bred our Red pair for some winter babies. Hopefully at the end of this month we'll have some in the nest box. :)

Summer :D

It's been a while since I updated the blog.
So far I'm having an awesome summer!!! Babies are every where....and I'm breeding more does on the 25th.

The first two does are,
Furry Treasures Gem and Furry Treasures Yahtzee,
They will be bred to TLL's Dirty Boy, owned by my friend Briana Brown (Northern Breeze Rabbitry).

Then I'm hoping to breed Bella's Desperoux to Alexandria....or maybe one of my other does.

My birthday is in about a week, I'm so excited!!! I'll finally be 16!! :D
I'll be going to the show on June 25th, hopefully. That's when I'll be breeding my two does to DB.
It'll be nice to have some new blood to work with. I've been looking for a buck for a while....hopefully there will be a nice little guy in one of these litters.

Check the litters page on my website for pictures of the parents. http://bellasrabbitry.weebly.com/

My first litter of Tri-Colors finally arrived today!!! I'm sooo excited. :) Tinkerbell delivered a healthy litter of six, consisting of one Harlequin and five Tri-Colors/Broken Reds (they're too little to tell yet). Sad.....and Kinda Happy

Well.....I've had a good week and a bad one. About a month ago I bred Gem and Esme. Gem had a beautiful litter of three kits, a Blue and two REWs!!! I went out today and found that Esme had 1 DOA fetal giant. :( I was really looking forward to having this litter and was really bummed. This is the second time she's had one, but the first time she had three normal babies. I had thought that this was some weird genetic fluke, but now I'm not so sure. :(

Rabbitry Update :)

Okay so it's been a longgg time since I've posted anything in here and a lot of stuff has happened. Sooo, I'm giving you an overview of the last few months.

In July I became the proud owner of SRC's Kryptonite, who won BOV red in youth at nationals. :) I'm extremely happy to have him and his babies are stunning! Thanks again Cassidy!! I also purchased GC Doyle's Truffles and Doyle's Kalulu from Cassidy in July as well. Fair was also in July, I did pretty good, I also purchased a little red buck from DeAnn Boulier, Furry Treasures Red Pepper. :) My results from fair are in my last post. I bred 4 does in August, other than that nothing really happened. In September I had three litters born. Tink, Kalulu and Esme delivered beautiful litters, and all of them are AWESOME moms! Tink had a litter of six sired by Red Pepper, 1 red doe, 2 booted red does and 3 booted red bucks! To say the least I was not happy when I saw almost all her babies were booted. :( Kalulu had a litter of 5 sired by Kryptonite! They're amazing.....I'm very happy with the results of this litter! Esme had a litter of 4, 1 DOA. :( They were sired by Truffles......and so far are one of my favorite litters right now! Didn't really do much in October...it was kinda boring actually. In November I attended my first show in months, and did AMAZING! Kryptonite took home two BOXVs, earning him two more legs!! I was so happy with him! December was probably the saddest month I've had in a really long time and a happy one at the same time. I lost six rabbits to the cold, at the time our shed was not insulated and was drafty, but we fixed that quickly by adding insulation and sealing up all the cracks and holes. I also gained a new member in my rabbit breeding family! My brother's fiancée fell in love with the rabbits, so she is now showing with me and the rest of my family!

Kryptonite!! :D
